Although these two photos were taken in the heat of summer; check out this website photo shot of a night at St Kilda Open Air Cinema ... another Winter in Melbourne idea!

Had the little 'stamp' border for
a while now, and have been thinking about playing around with that idea as
another 'frame' for my piccies, much like the funky postcards, but this is the
first one that's struck me as a fun image to start it off with.
Actually, I have been on the hunt to get another category started
"Discovering Melbourne" - yet another mission (on my mental
checklist) to try and find/snap and include as many pics as I can that includes
the word "Melbourne"
within them. Although I have just a couple (plus a couple more unposted),
this one occurred to me that it would probably make a good stamp image
actually, as its an instantly recognisable street scape to most Melbournians.
Guess I've been making my own stamps for a long while :-), not sure why I 'stopped' all those years in-between ha ha.

Updating a couple more photos (backdated pics) to my Architectural Abstracts snaps, and, an interesting look (see article clipped and pasted below) at alfresco dining around and about Melbourne and the changing Street Scapes yet to be snapped.

Ok, been a bit slack in rushing out and buying that yellow cardboard (see previous post "Hunting out the fun in street portraiture"), and actually have put a total of zero effort into any part of the 'street portraiture/photography' mission of late - but I have at least one good excuse - yesterday I nearly sliced my little finger off in one of those stupid domestic accidents! Seriously Im a real hazard most of the time, constantly wondering when I will 'grow out' of my clumisness! Just tapped/banged a cup (and unbeknownst chipping it) a second prior to shoving in the hand with soapy sponge to wash and twist! Next I know, I've done myself some serious damage (deep in the web-crease of the little and ring finger) and spent 5 hours in the waiting room of the emergency dept to get 5 stitches in it. Oh well, hand all nicely bandaged now (tapping away like the 2 fingered typist which is not usually my style - you can't imagine how many typos Ive been correcting), a couple of days off work and forced to watch movies and update (older unposted photos to) my blog! Oh... how I'm suffering so! LOL

You know, even though I'd mentioned
before on a previous post that Im not a seriously addicted 'people
watcher', I gotta admit I really enjoy some of the photos Ive taken, and uploaded
to my street photography collection. And of course, the more you enjoy, the
more addicted you become. Dont quite see myself as the paparazzi type yet
- guess I define that term more as someone who will take and publish photos of
people in the most unflattering pose. Hate the whole idea of that, for
the strangers in the street, and, and for myself, personally.
Me, I would just love to able to take photos that not only depict life as it was in a certain era, but ones that the subjects themselves would be happy enough with to want to have a copy themselves. Well, thats what I'm hoping for.
Here's an interesting article project (below) that I came across.Ok..Have camera = Check; Take along friend/partner = Check; Yellow cardboard = ooooh, better run!

This photo (below) is of one tree amongst further poles/public artwork pieces displayed, which are situated directly behind the shot (taken above). Thought the artwork - making use of the tree, was a clever idea and certainly makes for a funky little shot.
