Ahh my favourite place in the world on a Friday night. There's always time enough for a stroll as the sunsets.
A magical place to stretch the legs and lose myself tucked away from time and space and the world. Of course, it isnt too long (being out amongst the historical buildings and old gardens, clearing one's cobwebs) before the mouth-watering aromas of the bakery and delicious foods on offer from the eateries will have your appeptite peaked. "Lentil as Anything" on site is one guarranteed to deliver something to rival any inner city restaurant minus the 'putting on of airs. Next, onto the Abbotsford Bakery, and soak up the ambience of freshly made bread, wood fire pizzas, a glass of wine, and a passionate and most talented Cuban band that serenades a better redition of Besame Mucho than any version I can find on youtube. ACC is an amazing place - an extremely welcoming community and inviting atmosphere that attracts artisans, family, single guys, gals, and pals, which unfailingly produces that divine 'human' connection thats missing from much of the nightlife scene in the CBD.
I met and talked with four lovely people: two mates on the way home picking up some boxed food for themselves and their adult kids, and a lovely couple in the bakery, whom with I shared their table, conversation and enjoyment of the band. All, I now know by first name and some delightful segments of their life. I hope I bump into them again.
